Department of Biochemistry was born on 8th March, 2011 with three Faculties only & now they are eight. First Professional MBBS classes are running since 2011 and training of DMLT students have started since September 2014. Regularly there are student & Faculty seminars in the Department. Estimations of sugar, urea, creatinine, bilirubin, free T4, TSH are regularly performed in the clinical laboratory and in the research laboratory. Estimation of LFT & Lipid profile parameters will be started in the lab shortly. Faculties are regularly involved in research activities in addition to their lecture and demonstration classes.
Currently following research works is approved by the Institutional Ethical Committee and is under process:
1) Haemolysed sample should be rejected all? A book has been written by Dr Pallab Basu from the department, on "Biochemistry Laboratory Manual for MBBS, BDS, BHMS & BUMS Students".
This book is not only useful for undergraduate medical students but also very useful for DMLT and Postgraduate aspirants.
